What is a Septic Tank and what does it do?

A septic tank partially treats effluent and is the simplest and most economic solution for sewage disposal where mains drainage is not possible.

It consists of a 2 or 3 chamber system which holds sewage solids long enough to allow the solids to form into sludge at the bottom of the tank. It then partially breaks down through anaerobic digestion and the remaining liquid passes through the outlet pipe to a soakaway.

What shapes and sizes can we supply?

A-Tanks can supply both spherical (2800ltr - 6000ltr) and cylindrical (2800ltr - 54000ltr) septic tanks for all your needs. Whether you need it for a domestic dwelling, caravan site or even a leisure park A-Tanks can help.

The cylindrical septic tank allows reduced depth excavation in comparison with the spherical septic tank, therefore reducing excavation costs. The cylindrical septic tanks are also used where there is a high water table or difficult ground conditions.
